Overview:

On April 16th, Gregorio Drayer and I spent the day installing the Onset Weathger Station, provided by Gary Fisher of the GreenHab project. This device consists of a datalogger with 10 specialized sensors designed to record various environmental variables. Many of the sensors were deployed inside the GreenHab with the others attached to the provided mast. I initiated logging, at an interval of 10 minutes on the morning of April 17, 2004. It has been running ever since. This will allow up to 154 days of recording at this rate. On April 20, I relocated the inside PAR Sensor to the North wall of the GreenHab, to more accurately reflect the light levels within the Nursery portion of GreenHab. The tables below have links to the individual daily reports, a list the sensor locations and over-all graphs of the initial 8-day period.

Additionally, a metric Onset Rain Gauge was located South of the debris filed, (Model No, RG2-M) where it had been deployed by some past crew. The system still contained data, but was not in working order due to excessive dust accumulation inside. I downloaded the data, and cleaned out the dust. It was re-deployed on the East side of the GreenHab and attached to a metal rebar near the Radio Telescope. Prior to departing on April 25, 2004 I downloaded the data that had accumulated during the time since re-deployment. The data came out, but I was unable to re-set the unit, due to a transmission error. This was attempted twice, once with the Onset Shuttle, then with my Palm PDA running the Onset "HandCar" utility. It may have to be physically hooked into a computer running BoxCar to re-set it, but time ran out before I could accomplish this.
