Commander's Log
Adam Rehnberg Reporting
New day, new chores. With the skeleton crew switched almost entirely to "site support mode", our priorities for this day were two: get the shopping and grocery list sent off to crew 36, and finish off some necessary engineering tasks initiated by the refit crew. This morning, on suggestion from Hugh, we let the generator run until it went out of fuel in order to see how long one tank of gasoline should last us. The power went out at about 10:30, meaning that we got almost nine hours of power out of one tank. Another valuable piece of information.
As anyone who has followed the Commander's Check in reports is aware of, Commander Gregory has been struck by a nasty viral infection which has effectively put him out of duty. Thus, as directed by the Crew Health and Safety procedures, Adam made use of his medical training and prepared a short assessment of the Commanders medical status for review by the Flight Surgeon. This taken care of, Adam and Anthony started going through the pantry and cupboards to get a grasp of the status of the kitchen supplies. This made for some interesting findings, including 40 lbs of white rice and no less than five cans of ground black pepper. Message to upcoming crews: do not bother stocking up on spice, rice, pasta and other "dry stuff" unless you want something really special. There is enough to go around for years to come.
Having completed and mailed the shopping list, the two active crewmembers turned to engineering duties, which included covering up two exposed parts of the grounding cable with powdered carbon and dirt, as well as filling in parts of the cable trench under the Hab. On suggestion from Anthony, the crew also moved scattered pieces of equipment and leftover material from the Hab surroundings to the generator area, making the close environment significantly more enjoyable. Before nightfall, an oil change and refueling was performed on the new generator.
Anthony cooked up today's dinner, taking special care to make the meal suitable for our very ill commander. Even so, Anthony's great kitchen skills provided us with a delicious meal using a minimum of spices. The rest of the evening was spent writing up the daily reports and sorting out the logistics of the handover.
Acting commander Adam Rehnberg, XO Pisces 1 expedition, signing off from analogue Mars.
