Engineering Upgrades/Refit: Last night Casper, our new friendly generator, arrived and was wired into the electrical subpanel in main engineering. This took nearly three hours with Paul, Lee, and myself working. We then started it up and adjusted the power settings using the gages on the front of the generator. After this, Paul hooked up his scope to the power leads and we took accurate readings of the power, and adjusted the gages to match. Then we tried to hook the generator up to the auxiliary diesel fuel tank. However, the generator has a ¼ inch flare fitting and the line coming off the diesel tank ends in ½ NPT. So until the proper fitting can be procured, the generator will have to run off its own small diesel tank. This is still better than the old generator as it can easily be filled from the large diesel tank, and one tank full is good for about twelve hours.

This morning Paul arrived again to continue work on the battery bank and inverters for the Hab. I briefly helped him while working on the following upgrades from the initial "punchlist":
  • Bolt/Screw down ladder to attic (register vent width away from wall)
  • Fasten internal water tank feeder line.
  • Secure LP alarm by fridge.
  • Move barrels of diesel fuel to main engineering.
  • Replaced 500 watt light fixtures with fluorescent fixtures (14 watt bulbs needed)
