Log Book for March 10, 2006
Engineering Report
Steven Winikoff and Ben Huset Reporting

Generator/Electricity:

Casper: not used

Wendy Hobbs Meter: 2962.9 hrs
Voltage: 120 VAC
Frequency: 60 Hz
Oil Level: full
Oil Pressure: 30 PSI
Water Drained: no

Notes/Comments: We seem to be charging reliably again, but the colder weather is not helping the batteries to hold a charge. In particular, today we reached a full charge at 10:10 this morning, but by 15:45 we were down to 22.4 volts on 04B. Previously we were able to last as much as 10.5 hours on a single charge (eg 2006/02/27, when we went from 04B = 24.7 at 22:08 with the generator off to 04B = 22.9 at 08:33 the next morning). We'll probably have to run Wendy overnight again in order to avoid running out of power during the night. Also, the final joint on the exhaust pipe vibrated itself loose and fell off today. This is the same joint that Don had reinstalled with a pipe wrench on Tuesday; it lasted until this afternoon, but stronger measures will be necessary.

Xantrex Inverter/Dynasty Batteries:

16:04 - 25.9 - 14 - 08 - on
18:53 - 27.5 - 12 - 09 - on

Notes/Comments: No EVAs today.

HVAC: Nothing further to report.

Mars Surface Suits: No EVAs today.

Computers/Networking Infrastructure: The Lexmark printer appears to have died. Ben spent a considerable amount of time on that today, including swapping out the USB cable and connecting the printer to a different computer, but he was unable to get it to respond.

Appliances: The breadmaker is still inoperable. The fix detailed in bug #156 will probably work, but we haven't had time to try it.

Data Logger: Nothing further to report.

Notes/Comments: As this report is being written, Ben is looking into a problem with the flow between the TST and the toilet. Given that it's now 20:17, I'll send this now rather than wait for an update on this situation.
