Log Book for March 24, 2006
Commander's Check-In
Dr. Jan Osburg Reporting

Crew Physical Status: Everyone is doing OK - no new bruises or scratches.

Brief Narrative of Today's Results: The morning's activities were focused on hab upgrades (generator, shower caulking, etc.), research (astronomy, radiation) and EVA preparation (programming and setting radios and GPS receivers). Main activity during the afternoon was our third EVA. Now we have hab-made lasagna in the oven and are looking forward to dinner and maybe a movie.

EVA: one EVA (EVA03) to Copernicus Highway North to test synchronous APRS transmissions from three beacons, to test range of voice comms with and without repeater in the area northwest of the hab, and to familiarize the remaining crewmembers with EVA equipment and procedures. Everything went as planned and the EVA team was treated with beautiful views of the area.

Plans for Tomorrow: Start biology research, continue hab improvements (patch outside wall, prepare power meter installation), post-process EVA data.

Report Transmission Schedule:
  • Today's engineering report has been transmitted via the web interface.
  • The other reports (HSO, SCI, UPG, JNL, EVA) will be transmitted between 2000h and 2030h.
  • The CDR report will be transmitted later tonight.
Miscellaneous: This is such a great crew!

Support Requested: None.

More to follow.

Jan Osburg
Commander, MDRS Crew 47
