Commander's Journal
Dr. Jan Osburg Reporting
Sundays off are a great mid-mission tradition. Given the intense activity of the past two days, Crew 47 really appreciated this opportunity to decompress. For some that meant doing school work, others took on fun tasks like running electrical wires out to the observatory and soldering radio connectors [yes, that counts as fun for Georgia Tech people!]. But for most of the time, the crew just hung out together around the wardroom table and enjoyed each other's company while having breakfast, snacks, lunch, more snacks, an afternoon movie, dinner, dessert, and an evening movie; relaxing to music; sharing stories; and of course discussing plans for the second week of our mission.
Now that the main hab systems are up and running again (we did not have any problems today, neither with the generator, nor with the inverter, nor with the "T" tank fluid pump), we hope to cover the remaining elements of our research and hab improvement tasks during the next several days. Then, during the final phase of our mission, we will host another media team, before handing over the hab to Crew 48 next Sunday. Still a lot of work to do, but there is no doubt in my mind that this crew will get it done.
Signing off for today,
Jan Osburg
Commander, MDRS Crew 47
