Commander's Check-In
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto Reporting
Crew Physical Status: The Crew are in good spirits and are doing fine.
Time Departed/Returned from EVA: 1215 hrs Departure: 1115 hrs
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results: Today is the last day that the Dutch media will be taking photographs of the F.L.A.M.E. Crew. Today our Executive Officer, Stacy Sklar, took our Chief Engineer and her daughter out on an early morning EVA. In the evening, CDR Zabala-Aliberto took her three children and their Educator, Jared Szymanoski, will go on a late evening EVA for the Dutch media to take their final pictures of the Crew.
Plans for Tomorrow: Tomorrow we will take all the F.L.A.M.E. students on their final EVAs that will be in Full SIM. We will ensure that all our inventories are ready to be verified for Thursday for the next Crew and start our pre-packing phase to head home. CDR Zabala-Aliberto will conduct a long duration EVA to Tank Wash, Box Canyon, and routes via Brahe Highway in search for concretion-bearing layers. Today's EVA was scrubbed due to our Media visit and specific tasks that needed to be done close to the MDRS.
Report Transmission Schedule: Tonight F.L.A.M.E. will have the following Reports turned in by 2000 hrs: CDR Check-In, CDR Report, Engineering Report, GreenHab Report, Educator Report, HSO Report, EVA Report (Zabala-Aliberto, Sklar), Journalist Report (from the Dutch Media), Crew Narrative by Madeline Zabala
Maintenance: The generator seems to be working fine for today. Our Engineers are currently working within the GreenHab since we currently have only 2 out of 6 pumps working.
EVA Narrative/Data/Interpretations: Executive Officer Sklar conducted the first EVA of the day in which she took our Chief Engineer and her daughter on a pedestrian EVA in order to get some PR shots for the media to bring back to the Netherlands. In the evening, CDR Zabala-Aliberto took the Primary Crew of F.L.A.M.E. and their Educator on an EVA to Tank Wash and to Box Canyon in order for the Dutch media to get some early evening PR shots.
Inventory: We are still in need of paper towels. Many of the parts we need for the ATVs or for the GreenHab have been ordered. We will be working on our Food, HSO, etc., inventories on Thursday for the incoming crew. We can also use latex gloves for both the GreenHab and the MDRS Science Laboratory (in bulk please).
Miscellaneous: Some of the Crew members cannot wait to get home while others wish they had more time to conduct EVAs and to do more science.
Support Requested: An earlier e-mail was sent out to Mission Support requesting pumps for the GreenHab. We are waiting for authorization to get the pumps and hopefully install them before the next MDRS Crew arrives.
