Comments:

> While refilling loft tank, pipes seemed to be icing over (pump struggled at first, along with crackling sounds). Requesting permission to turn on every 2 hours to prevent freezing.

> Seeing instruction on Potable Water Meter Reading" - Unsure where to locate measurement, or if manual calculation is considered as the water meter reading.

>> Subject: Bandwidth - Additional notes (already submitted by Crew Commander)

When we first entered the hab yesterday the computer and internet situation was as follows:

The following steps were taking by ourselves as we did not have access to mission support.

The Hab Activity Logger (HAL) computer was located on the second floor counter. However none of us having extensive Linux experience we were somewhat struggling in making it work.

>> One that was done we were trying to connect to the “marsnet” network as per the information written on the Mission Support white board. No such network was present, the only Wi-Fi network available being an unprotected network called “wireless” stemming from the Linksys router located under the computer workstation (where the printer is located).

>> The HAL computer had the wireless disabled (which we only realized this morning) so we connected it to the router using a Cat5 cable.

>> We were able to connect to this network on the HAL computer as well as our personal devices, however we could not access the HAL software on any other computer than the HAL computer using the IP address on the whiteboard or the one which is indicated on the HAL dashboard.

>> We all used the HAL computer to submit our reports but noticed that our internet bandwidth availability was dropping extremely fast and was still doing to when the only device connected to the network was the HAL computer.

>> This morning we shut down the HAL computer and observed the internet bandwidth meter. In doing so we realized that the HAL computer was the one responsible for draining our Internet bandwidth.

>> Needing to prepare for our evening reports we had to reopen the HAL computer. In the process of doing so we figured out that the wireless was turned off and turned it back on. Doing so activated the “HabActivityLogger” wireless network. With it on we were now able to access the HAL webpages on our personal devices.

>> The current problem remains that using the HAL computer and having it connected to the network is causing our bandwidth to drain extremely fast. For example from 5pm to 10pm last night we dropped to 30% remaining only email reports and using the HAL software.

>> The current alternative is to use the network stemming directly from the Linksys router for regular internet usage and only use the HAL computer when submitting reports. However for EVA planning reports where a significant amount of time needs to be spent on the computer this ‘solution’ might not be acceptable.

>> Please advise on how to proceed keeping in mind none of us are proficient in using this distribution of the Linux operating system.
