Commander Report Crew 167B:
Karen Rucker
Sol 5
Earth date: 04/13/16

This morning the crew had pancakes and bacon to Otsmar’s selection of classic and alternative rock. We assured him several times that it wasn’t “too old” for us. Then Otsmar led Drew and Jaxom to Candor Chasma for the Chemistry EVA. Apparently they were lucky enough to see bunnies, or conejitos, on their EVA… or as certain previous crew commanders would call them, “Puppies!”

During the morning EVA, the crew remaining in the hab worked on individual projects and I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Victoria graciously indulged me in cooking lunch, which was a chunky soup of chicken, corn, peas, and wild rice with crackers.

During the afternoon we got ready for an early dinner of beef stew over rice in preparation for crew movie night. Hopefully tonight I will have a chance to look through the telescope; I didn’t realize last night that Beechner doing the “Shave and a Haircut” knock on my wall at 22:00 meant, “Come outside to the observatory.”

Tomorrow, pending approval, will consist of a morning EVA with Otsmar, Victoria, and Beechner to test Victoria’s rover, and an afternoon Geology EVA for Drew, Jaxom and myself.
