Log Book for February 19, 2004
General Engineering Report
Diego Casa Reporting

Detailed notes on regular procedures are being compiled and will be available soon.

Li'l Genny: Started ok. Oil ok. Gas 1/2 full. @1335

Big Gen:
245VAC, 59.25Hz, 14.5VDC, Hobbs 5402.0 @1340
The oil was below lower notch, oil pool under engine refilled with one quart 20W50, and was Restarted ok.

Tanks:
Tank 1 (closer to gen) 84%
Tank 2 82%
Furnace 88% @1345

Water:
Inside 11, then filled @0700
Outside hi=100cm, lo=94cm

There are water leaks in lab faucet and shower head. We will look for the parts that are needed for both faucets. Gray water line was unclogged, using the plumbing snake modified to fit the pipe id. Gray water tank was pumped out to GreenHab; pump is resting approx on top of cinder block suspended by two lines. See GreenHab report.

Also, we need to know if Hab pressure pump is really necessary when not using hot water. In that case, it could be turned off most of the time and cold water would be gravity fed.

ATVs: Oil and gas refilled on all units. ATV #3 lock problem was temporarily fixed in sim (see EVA-7): The on/off key lock retaining nut was missing and the lock had fallen through inside the chassis. We could not locate the nut, so I used copper wire. The lock was reached from the front right wheel well and pushed in position, while the wire was tied on the plastic threads. The ATV could then be turned on and was driven around for a bit. Until a better fix can be implemented, the key should be left in the lock at all times and tied to the chassis to recover the lock in case the wire doesn't hold. #2 developed a similar problem: retaining nut came loose and was tightened. We have asked for spare parts, in the meanwhile will keep working on it. At the end of EVA-8, batteries were disconnected in #2 and #3 rather than turning the keys. We will continue to work on this problem.

Hab: Nothing to report

Suits: Nothing to report
