GreenHab Report
Celeste Gale Reporting

Readings:

Time: 6:31pm
Inside Temp: 62 F
Outside Temp: 42 F
Relative Humidity: 60%

We received the plants for the GreenHab today, and are storing them temporarily in the biolab. The sump pump was fixed today, thanks to Diego, Bob, and myself. We think that the blockage was ice, since there was no solid residue encountered with the snake. We suspect that the problem will likely reoccur in cold weather unless this problem is addressed.

We allowed some of the tanks in the GreenHab to fill, until we ran out of grey water. The tank number 1 nearly overflowed when we started the pump, because the build up of biofilms (ha, just wanted to use that term) nearly blocked the overflow tube. Another problem is that tank 1 has sagged from being full all the time, this places the overflow tube into the tank 2 at nearly the same level as the top of tank 1. Currently a person has to monitor the tanks when the sump pump is on to ensure the pump does not run dry when it runs out of water to pump, and that the tanks do not overflow. This would probably have to been done 2-3 times a day. We believe that sensors should be installed in the grey water tank that would activate the pump when the tank was full.
