Log Book for March 17, 2004
Commander's Check-In
Reece Lumsden Reporting

Crew Status: The crew remain motivated and in high spirits.

Daily Recap: Today we pulled back from full to part simulation conditions.

This morning Jamon and Richard took the opportunity to build a larger shelter to place the generators and fuel. We still need to level off the smaller generator but we should be able to do this in the coming days.

There were no EVAs today and in the morning brief I gave the crew the opportunity to use the pull back from simulation to catch up on their own personal projects as many of them had raised the issue with me that they hadn't had time to put much work into them up to this point.

Communications gear were checked today by giving each crew member a set and getting them to check auditability at various distances from the hab.

Jamon and I started to look at what previous crew's had done with regards to previous EVA's. Instead of trying to conduct our EVAs in isolation I thought it best that we try and leverage as much as possible off of the previous crews so in that way, we took one of the maps and started plotting out the waypoints from previous crews' EVAs. We quickly started to see that there was a huge source of information there that we could use to provide us with goals for the EVAs i.e. go back to sites that required further exploration based on the comments of previous crews.

Many of the crew took the opporunity to take a quick power nap just after lunch and I also found myself quickly refreshed after a quick hour break.

Tomorrow's Plan: Tomorrow we will enter our next (in every respect) phase with a full three days in simulation (except for the GreenHab and generator routine activities).

Daily Reports: The standard reports should be in on time tonight around 2230.
