Commander's Check-In
Alejandro R. Diaz Reporting

Crew Status: Members of Crew 27 are in high spirits and continue to work as a team.

Daily Recap: Today we spent the morning completing pre-simulation tasks inside or near the hab. During the morning, the crew spent time on Greenhab tasks, testing radios, computer installation, schedule development, and the telemedicine task. In the afternoon, Bill Foltyn (with help from Wil McCarthy and Jim Russell) trained the crew on map orientations and GPS. This included a walk that was over two hours long, which was utilized to familiarize the crew with navigation. We utilized a map, compass, GPS, and a lot of common sense. Apart from helping us with navigation, this walk gave us a greater appreciation of how amazing the area around MDRS really is. Furthermore, this pre-simulation walk was time well spent because it will certainly give us greater aptitude when performing our EVAs.

Tomorrow's Plan: Tomorrow we will attempt our first EVA. We will also work on finalizing our mission objectives.
