Nutrient Readings:

Tank 2:
pH: >8.4
Nitrate: 20 mg/l
Nitrite: 0.25 mg/l (between 0 and 0.5 on color strip)
Ammonia: 0.25mg/l

Tank 4:
pH: >8.4
Nitrate: 20 mg/l
Nitrite: 0.25 mg/l (between 0 and 0.5 on color strip)
Ammonia: 0.25 mg/l

The pH test sticks did not have sufficient range to show the actual pH. It is interesting that the two tanks have the same readings despite being at different stages of the treatment process. We will check the trickling filter and other tanks tomorrow.

Normal chores in the GreenHab were performed on each of these occasions.
  • Both aerators are working, one is in Tank #2 and one in Tank #4.
  • Only air bubbles in Tank #2 & 4
  • All plants were sprayed with water and fed.
  • The sump pump is connected to a timer which activates the system at 12:00 hours and 00:00 hours.
  • The TST tank is still being filled as required by the pump.
  • Water level in the plant buckets is 5cm from the top in the white bucket and 6 cm from the top in the orange bucket..
  • Water in tank #5 is higher ~3cm below highest salt line at 16:00. However, our daily consumption rate is still not within the recommended 25-35 gpd.
Additional Chores
  • The overhead green screen in the treatment part of the Greenhab was pulled fully across the hab.
  • A tarp was placed above the plants.
  • South fan was rewired to allow the screen to pass. It was also examined and determined to be under the same operational state whether under generator or solar power. It will be continued to be operated under solar power.
  • The Southern louvers need to open more, but the current louver assist device is not compatible.
