Geology Report
William Foltyn Reporting

This is the first Geology Expedition that Crew 27 has been able to afford. With the Radio repairs, inclement weather, and one less ATV it has been difficult to get approval and time for the Geology team. However our first objective was to try and find some possible formations that are analogous to the pictures that the MERs Spirit and Opportunity have been sending back.

With only 45 minutes to accomplish the objective, we have been able to find some similar formations, not more that 2Km from the Hab. The picture which was taken at UTM12 N0514781 E4250186 shows elevated and exposed iron rich nodules, ranging in size from approximately 3mm-12mm. Opportunity has also taken pictures of iron rich rounded nodules. See [G1.1a] and as a comparison see the photo taken by Opportunity [See G1_1b], (click for detail).

The Second Analogous looking feature is a conglomerate taken at UTM12 E0518101 E4249906. When you compare the Photo taken from NASA in the area named "upper Dells" you will see the similarities, (click for detail).
