Commander's Check-In
Gus Frederick Reporting

Crew Status: All crew are healthy and in good spirits, despite a lack of viable power for the hab.

Daily Recap: We did have a productive day, inspite of our generator woes. Greg Michaels and Kathleen Johnson completed the requested addition to tank 4, a movable screen and cover to shield off the empty portions of the tank for algae abatement. We all then completed our GPS training, by following a pre-determined route that Steve Featherstone had plugged into the GPS units. While on this EVA, we did manage to get some good samples, take pictures, and record waypoints to return to later. We did this in the morning, before it got too hot.

After lunch, Gregorio and Steve took the pressurized rover on a short recon mission. During this time, Greg Michaels and I tended to the salad machine. I mixed up 4 gallons of hydroponic nutrient solution, and we planted the sprouted seeds, (lettuce and wheat - the tomatoes have not yet sprouted). We cleared out a place in the GreenHab and placed the SM unit in a spot opposite the BYU plants in the North end. Gregorio also reconnected all TST operations to run off of the Solar System until power is back.

Plans For Tomorrow: We did plan to start our sim, but we will wait until we have reliable working power. We do plan to complete the setup of the salad machine in the GreenHab

This will be the only report submitted today, although there will be an Engineering, GreenHab and possibly Geology reports for both yesterday and today, once power is returned. Needless to say, these will not get posted to the Web until then.

I will check in again tomorrow morning, hopefully from the Hab, but probably from the Whispering Sands...

Daily Reports: The following reports should be in as soon as power is restored.
  1. Commander's Check In (this report) -- Gus Frederick
  2. Journalist Report -- Steve Featherstone
  3. GreenHab Report -- Kathleen Johnson
  4. Engineering Report -- G. Drayer & A. Rzeszutko
