Engineering Report
Gregorio Drayer & Alyssa Rzeszutko Reporting

Generator/Electricity:

China Special:
Voltage: 220 V
Hobbs meter Reading: 792.6 hours
Don brought the repaired China Special at 1300 as well as two extra air filters. We had been without power for about 38 hours by the time Don had arrived. We have been refueling China Special beginning at 2pm and every 8 hours thereafter. Greg D. built a new shelter for the generator.

Lil’ Genny: Is no longer at the Hab. R.I.P.

Fuel Status (as of 2100):

Diesel:
  • Quantity: 75 gallons (US liquid) = 283.9 L remaining (L=liters)
  • Consumed: 4 gallons = 15.1 L

    Propane Tank:
  • Reading: 70% (175 gal / 250 gal) = (662.4 L / 946.4 L)
  • Consumed: 0 gallons

    Gasoline:
  • Quantity: 60.3 gal = 228.3 L
  • Consumed: 0.25 gal = 11.4 L

    Oil:
  • Quantity remaining: 7.5 quarts = 7.1 L

    Water:

Reading: Outside potable water tank level: 50.5 cm from the base
    Consumed: 34.7 gal = 131.4 L in last 24 hours
Estimated Grey Water Used: 27.8 gal = 105.23 L in last 24 hours (assumed 80%)

    Time: 08:15
    Inside Tank: 31.9 gal = 120.8 L
    (Previous reading at 04/13/04: 31.9 gal = 120.8 L)

    Time: 08:25
    Inside Tank: 55 gal = 208.2 L

    Time: 21:23
    Inside Tank: 20.3 gal= 76.8 L

    Time: 21:30
    Inside Tank: 60 gal = 227.1 L

    HVAC: Nothing to report.

Transport: Greg D., Alyssa, Greg M., and Kathleen took short EVA trips while wearing the suits.

    Mars-Suits: Nothing to report.

Computers/Networking Infrastructure: All equipment was successfully powered on after the generator was brought back in service.

Other: Greg D. fixed hot plate of the kitchen again. The previous repair was a reconnection of one of the electrical terminals to the hot plate 6 A resistance. This time the power control was calibrated to prevent any disconnection due to the expansion of the device under high temperatures, (see image in Photo Diary).
