Today:

Plants watered; salad machine, nursery, and surface plants all thriving. We planted the rest of the radish seeds.

Tank 4 is returning to normal levels. Kathleen and Gus attempted to put a timer on the recirculation pump to prevent it from being accidentally left on. However, the available timer is AC and the pump is DC, and we could not find an AC adapter that will work with the voltage. We will thus continue to run the recirculation pump manually for five minutes during the regular GreenHab temperature readings, but will be extra cautious about leaving it on.

Data collection for the new weather station continues: (see weather report for 4/18). Gus also moved the new weather station's light sensor from the south, inside wall of the nursery to the north, inside wall because the intermittent shadows falling on the south inside wall were adversely affecting the PAR reading.

Nitrate removal: as suggested in Crew 27's report of 4/10, we placed air stone aerators into the anaerobic tanks, Tanks 1 and 3. We also installed a Red Sea ozone generator (found by Gus in the GreenHab supplies) in Tank 5.

New Open Issue:

Alyssa found a photocell that we may be able to use to switch the GreenHab from solar power to Hab/generator power--a task which currently needs to be performed manually each morning and evening. We are investigating.
