Engineering Report
Rick Alena Reporting

Hab Systems:

Power: The Generac coolant level was actually higher today than it was yesterday, so the hose repair is certainly not leaking. I am not really sure why the coolant level increased, except perhaps the generator was running hotter today since ambient temperature was higher than yesterday and the coolant level in the overflow reservoir reflected this. Electrical power is nominal and adequate for the Mobile Agents simulations and habitat residents. Furthur sound proofing of the generator should be made a priority.

Water: We had a wind storm today that resulted in the forceful removal of the primer pump and the hose supplying the Hab holding reservoir from the outside storage tank by wind gusts. The hose is kinked, but serviceable, but should be scheduled for replacement. We have been closing the valve leading to the outside tank and perhaps this prevented siphoning of the inside tank when this damage occurred. I recommend making this valve closure standard procedure, although it does increase the complexity of the fill procedure. We were able to fill the inside tank by holding the hose up manually against the gusts. Tomorrow we will effect repairs when the wind diminishes. We used about 70 gallons of water today.

Mobile Exploration Systems (MEX):

The Glenn Research Center (GRC) satellite link and NREN network has been performing flawlessly since Monday.

We set up the space suit computer packs today and tested both the absolute GPS and the fingertip oximeter. This year's version has significantly improved computing power, better power systems, a differential GPS for Astronaut 1 and integrated biosensor. All these elements checked out today in functional testing with the simulation astronauts wearing them outside the Hab and being photographed for the London Sun newspaper. We are ready for our full function EVA tomorrow.
