Commander's Check-In
Ryan Kobrick Reporting
Crew Physical Status: Our first full day and it was smooth sailing.
Time Departed for/Returned from EVAs: EVA-01: Adrienne, Cassandra, Seth, and John, 10:33am – 12:23pm. Crew introduction to field geology and biology at the Dakota sandstone outcrop just off of highway 24, at mile marker 110, 3:00 – 5:30pm.
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results: EVA-01: biological and geological walking EVA to the base of Phobos Peak. Collected samples for biological project. Geological cross training performed on EVA.
Plans for Tomorrow: Two EVAs are planned for the day to include a second halophilic location and the first evaporate location. The lecture series will continue in the evening.
Report Transmission Schedule: Engineering Report by 7:00, EVA Report, Geology Report, Biology Report, Journalistic Report (pending), and Daily Photos by 9:00 pm.
Maintenance: Installed insulation around pipe for laboratory sink under the hab and propped up piping. Some radios need to be repaired and were fixed last night.
EVA Narrative/Data/Interpretations: see EVA-01, Biology, and Geology reports.
Food/Essential Supplies Inventory: Low on hand sanitizer.
Miscellaneous: Last night's power problems gave the four engineers a crash course in the inverter and generator relationship. The sink in the laboratory is now draining, meaning that the pipe is not frozen anymore.
Support Requested: We are still trying to trouble shoot what actually happened last night with the 12 V power system. We will have to discuss it further with the Engineering Team and Paul tomorrow.
