Log Book for February 20, 2007
Journalist Report
Kathryn Bywaters Reporting

Just another day in paradise. Our morning started with a yoga class taught by our trusty commander, who was very patient with us and started with the beginner version. I have now realized the limitations of my flexibility. No need to go to yoga class, we will be doing this every morning for those of you who would like to work out with us (Disclaimer - we are not responsible for any injuries acquired while following along).

Unfortunately, several factors did make us deviate from our schedule. First was the mud and second was the generator which decided to act up. However we managed to pull through and get stuff done. We did see some action. The commander and myself somehow ended up in an arm wrestling competition. Hands gripping, eyes locked, blood racing we went toe to toe! Ten minutes later . hands sweaty we still hadn't moved. It was determined to be a draw but don't worry there WILL be a rematch. Talking about guns (a.k.a. arm muscles) one crew member's seem to be too large and are causing some problems with the blood pressure machine readings needed for the Human Factors survey.

After lunch we looked at some pictures of the FMARS Hab. I know that the Habs are very similar but it was nice to see pictures of the place we will soon be calling home. I must admit that my excitement briefly flickered when the image of the bathroom facilities illuminated the screen. Ahhh, the plushy comforts of civilization that are worth giving up in the name of science (incase you are not familiar with the facilities we will be peeing in a bottle for four months). We also went over the water collection and consumption plans, which are coming along nicely. I will not go into detail. Dinner smells good, compliments to tonight's chef James, so I will let you go for now.
