Log Book for February 28, 2007
Commander's Check-In
Melissa Battler Reporting
Crew Physical Status: Good!
Time Departed/Returned from EVA: 11:30-19:00
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results: Visit Upheaval Dome in Canyonlands National Park.
Plans for Tomorrow: All-day Wilderness First Aid course, for the next 3 solid days. We will be extremely busy (this is a very intense course!), so reports will be minimal. We will submit only CDR Check-in and Engineering Reports for the next 3 days; hopefully a few pictures and possibly a Journalist Report, or Video Log as well.
Report Transmission Schedule: Engineering Report and Journalist Report already submitted. Photos and Video Log will be late.
Maintenance: Problems with generator & oil – see Engineering Report.
EVA Narrative/Data/Interpretations: We went to see the impact crater "Upheaval Dome" at Canyonlands National Park, and learned about impact structural geology, as preparation for Haughton Crater on Devon Island (FMARS is located on the crater rim).
Inventory: Supplies adequate.
Miscellaneous: This morning we said goodbye to Emily (had to return home early), Marc, and Bruno, then drove into town to participate in the FMARS Science Advisory Group Teleconfrerence. Then we headed out to Canyonlands National Park and learned a lot about impact cratering processes and geology. We did a hike and checked out several look-out points, and generally enjoyed our final day together with just our crew, before starting our intense 3-day Wilderness First Aid course.
Support Requested: none
