Kathryn Bywaters Reporting
Ah, the victim - that was my role today. Through some odd twist of fate I sat next to the wilderness instructor this morning and every time he needed to demonstrate something I ended up being the victim. Lets see, I was a diabetic patent with bruising on the upper left quadrant of my abdomen possibly indicating internal bleeding, then I had a cut on my hand, a then a HUGE lacerations on my arm, and finally I had a blister on my heel (which wasn’t all that pretend). It was impressive to look down at my arm and see blood oozing out and flesh hanging off, all appearing to be real. To me, this brought new meaning to the term “Seeing is believing”. Even with the absences of pain I was able to imagine that the situation was real. As pictures were being taken I was told to act the part. As my eyes rolled back into my head I physically started to feel faint. The mind is a beautiful, powerful thing.
This evening we will be hard pressed to finish everything we wanted to accomplish. It seems surreal that we will be leaving soon. I know that we have all had the feeling that time has passed while standing still. When I look back on our time here that is the feeling I get.
