Educators Report
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto Reporting
Today the CDR instructed the children as our Educator has been feeling ill since early this morning. Our international student, Iahu-Anat did her studies in mathematics as well as it was in Dutch but she had a very good handle on it. Her mother is going over her work with her to ensure that she is on track with her studies as no other Crew Member can read or write Dutch. The children are showing signs of sluggishness. Angelina is done with her work for the two-weeks that had been assigned to her. She contacted her math teacher back on Earth and he stated that he did not want her to move ahead in the textbook. Her F.L.A.M.E. Educator, Jared and I feel that she should progress forward with her studies regardless of the fact that she will be ahead of the other students in her class. Therefore, we will continue her math studies and work on other hands-on activities to implement what she has learned thus far. Madeline is moving slowly in her studies and needs more one-on-one help with it. She'd rather go on EVA as opposed to doing her coursework. Gino is right on track with his coursework as well. He mostly has mathematics to complete.
Iahu-Anat and Angelina went on EVA with our Executive Officer (Sklar) and Engineer (Waller), since they are on track or finished with all of their assignments. They brought back prime samples unto which they will clean and identify and share with the other students of the Crew.
The children will also be learning about engineering next week as they will take a field trip to the generator to see how it works and how it supplies power to the MDRS. They will then take a field trip to the GreenHab to fully understand what food is being grown and how the aquatic tanks (ATs) work. For their final week at MDRS, the children will collect all the pictures taken from the Crew Members and create a movie in order to share with their teachers, family and friends back on Earth. They will also be creating PowerPoint presentations in order to give talks to their schools and the general public on their experiences at the MDRS.
With their first weekend already here, the children will be able to relax and catch up on any activities they may have to catch up on. This will also be an opportunity for them to keep the lines of communication with their friends and family back on Earth. It will be interesting to see what they do with their spare time this weekend. As for the adults of the F.L.A.M.E. crew, we do not get that much free time. The Hab is always in need of constant supervision...like a child, the Hab must be nurtured and looked after.
