Commander's Check-In
Emily Colvin Reporting
Crew Physical Status: Tired and Happy!!
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results: We successfully deployed voice and packet repeaters to the top of Skyline Rim. The "road" is navigable in a 4 wheel drive truck or an ATV in 2 wheel drive, although we only went to the bottom of the little peak that the old repeater was on. Paul checked it out ahead of us on Don's extra-spiffy ATV and then we followed his tracks in the truck with the ATV on a trailer behind us. Before we left, we checked with the BLM and that area has been designated as foot traffic only, starting as soon as possible and enforced in about a year, but Paul will be looking into getting access to that at least for repeater deployment/retrieval. We also brought down the two solar panels that were up there from the old repeater, as the stand had broken and we didn't have the equipment to tie them into our circuit.
Time Departed for/Returned from EVA: No EVA
EVA Narrative/Data/Interpretations: No EVA
Plans for Tomorrow: Begin Sim tonight, Geology EVA in the morning, and working with the Lovett School in Atlanta at some yet to be determined time with our robot.
Report Transmission Schedule: As with yesterday, as soon as we can get them in. You should already have engineering. Reports from here on out should be on time.
Maintenance: Several helmets were rewired for our ham radios to work with the PTTs already there. This was approved given that we fix them up with the FRS radios when we're done. This should fix a lot of the issues people have been having with the PTT buttons with solder problems.
Food/Essential Supplies Inventory: We're still good!
Miscellaneous: I'm SO glad we finally got that repeater up, and on Skyline Rim even! Tracklogs will go to Paul and Hugh.
Support Requested: None
