EVA Report
Elizabeth Tang Reporting

EVA-5:

Time: 11:20 (enter airlock for departure) - 12:21 (leave airlock on return)
Crew Members: Erik Kabo, Jonathan Murphy, Dean Liao, Elizabeth Tang
Site Location: around the Hab
Transit Mode: Pedestrian

Objectives: Attempt to put in the ground plane. Survey the land near the High Frequency antenna to take readings for the conductivity meter.

Lessons Learned:
  • It is difficult to operate in high wind.
  • It would have been helpful to use spools to deploy wires.
  • It is very difficult to handle small screws with big heavy gloves. Gloves with more control are preferred.
  • New design of suits for people who have long torsos are needed.
  • Duct tape with tags folded out was very convenient to use with gloves on.
  • Keep an eye on the weather while on EVA. We had to abort the EVA today when we were informed by the HabCom about the weather and saw the dark clouds were moving towards us very quickly.
