Log Book for April 11, 2007
Commander's Check-In
Chip Shepherd Reporting
Crew Physical Status: Excellent. Bein' safe, havin' fun, gettin' it done!
Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results: Conducted EVA's to test operational procedures and aids for transporting injured crewmember. First EVA used a standard stretcher with face-down crewmember. Second EVA will test modified stretcher and use of ATV.
Time Departed/Returned from EVA: EVA-1: 10:45 departure, 11:30 return. EVA-2: 5:45 departure, 7:00 return.
EVA Narrative/Data/Interpretations: EVA-1: Took 3 crew to transport "injured" crewmember. Stretcher worked well. EVA-2: TBD.
Plans for Tomorrow: Conduct EVA to test radiation procedures. Scout new waypoint for future crews to explore; take pictures and report initial general findings. Sim is scheduled to end that evening, and we will have our Yuri's Night celebration.
Report Transmission Schedule: Expect reports between 8 and 10 pm, due to lateness
of second EVA.
Maintenance: Re-activated and focused the Observatory webcam. Also, noticed a dead rat floating in the underground grey water tank. Sank again before we could get it. Will remove at earliest opportunity. Not a good way to leave this world...
Food/Essential Supplies Inventory: Very good.
Miscellaneous: An article has been published on-line at the Penn State University website about Irene's work here, (see link on today's main menu).
Support Requested: We're looking at what all we need to do to prepare the MDRS for the summer, taking limited local support into account. We have a lot of questions and will be sending you the list.
