Special Science Report

Arthur Guest (Crew 66) and Phillip Cunio (Crew 67)

Project:
Smart Small Logistics Container

Personnel:
Arthur Guest (Crew 66)
Phillip M. Cunio (Crew 67)

Operations Data Collected:
Electronics troubleshooting continued; initial crew handling operations
experiment conducted. Troubleshooting resulted in communication being
established between SSLC electronics box and laptop; initial crew
handling experiment (consisting of carrying the emptied SSLC out of the
airlock, securing it to a surface mobility unit, and then unsecuring it
for a crew-handled traverse of approximately 100 meters) was
successful. Data from initial crew handling experiment indicates that
the SSLC can be manoeuvred through the MDRS airlock along with three
crew members, but that better and more handles are needed for better
crew handling.

Technical/Equipment Issues:
Gumstix network cannot be successfully connected to internet or remote
server via sharing through local wireless internet connection.

Discussion:
Continue electronics troubleshooting; assess affects of different
laptop network configurations on ability of SSLC to connect to remote
server; attempt manual data upload.

Questions for CSO:
Quickstart for allowing BlueTooth internet access through local
wireless would be appreciated.
