Engineering Report

Eric Harkleroad Reporting

Generator/Electricity:

Wendy

Hobbs Meter: 3382.3 hrs

Voltage: 118 VAC

[*] Frequency: 58 Hz

Oil Level: full

Oil Pressure: 30 PSI

Water Drained: yes

Notes/Comments:
Per input from Chris (outgoing crew 67 engineer) we plan to run Wendy
for the majority of the day during our rotation since the battery packs
in the hab do not seem to be holding a charge. The sump mounted on the
external/aux 500-gallon diesel tank seems to just release large amounts
of diesel when opened--does not seem to be draining water (not sure
what this means).

Xantrex Inverter/Dynasty Batteries:

Time Voltage (Temp Comp) Load Temp Generator Running?
18:08 23 21.1 A 8 C yes

Notes/Comments:
battery voltage has been falling to 21-22 V occasionally today despite
continuous running of Wendy (not sure if this is normal). It dropped as
low as 18 for a few hours after 7 PM with no apparent loss of power to
the hab.

Fuel Status (as of 19:49):

Diesel:

Approximate Reading: 3/4

Notes/Comments:
not sure how to read the diesel level in the 500-gal tank since there
is no gauge; March 1 report from Chris says it was 3/4 full; I plan to
tap with a wrench tomorrow to get an approximate reading

Propane Tank:

Approximate Reading: 80% (800 gallons = 3028.3 L)

Gasoline:

Quantity Remaining: 58 gallons = 219.6 L

Notes/Comments:
not sure how to read the volume in the 50-gal drum since there is no
gauge; plan to tap drum with a wrench tomorrow to get approximate
level; 8 gallons are present in the jerry cans after refueling the
ATVs.

Oil:

GenSet Quantity: 9 quarts

[*] ATV Quantity: 14 quarts

[**] V'ger Quantity: NaN quarts

Notes/Comments:
labeled 20W-50 oil crate "this oil for Casper and Wendy"; labeled
10W-40 oil crate "this oil for ATVs"

Water Status:

Outside Potable Water Tank Level: 315 gallons = 1192.4 L

Trailer Potable Water Tank Level: 28.2 inches from the base

Potable Water Meter Reading: 26325.6 gallons = 99652.9 L

[**] Out to Toilet Meter Reading: NO VALUE SUPPLIED

In to GreenHab Meter Reading: 7823 gallons = 29613.2 L

Dishwasher Runs: 0

Notes/Comments:
I am not sure where to find out "out to toilet" gauge on the TST--I'm
happy to supply this reading if someone would please let me know where
to find the gauge (can't find this in the documentation either)

GreenHab:

[*] Crops Watered: no

Crop Condition:
They looked OK during crew 67 outgoing tour; temperature is lower in
the evening (57F) than the 86F we saw during the day.

Observatory:

not used

Transportation:

Kawasaki ATVs

ATV 1
Used: yes
Oil Checked: yes
[*] Fuel Consumed: NaN gallons = NaN L
Tire Status: checked-OK

ATV 2
Used: yes
Oil Checked: yes
[*] Fuel Consumed: NaN gallons = NaN L
Tire Status: checked-OK

ATV 3
Used: yes
Oil Checked: yes
[*] Fuel Consumed: NaN gallons = NaN L
Tire Status: checked-OK

Notes/Comments:
took ATVs out for training run for new user (Eric); labeled ATVs with
numbers (1,2,3) written on tape in permanent marker for ease of
identification.
