Commander's Check-In
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto Reporting

Commander's Check-In Report
March 3, 2008
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto

Crew Physical Status:
Crew morale is high. We are energized and excited to go into full
simulation tonight.

Time Departed/Returned from EVA:
Departed: 1500 hrs, Returned: 1700 hrs

Brief Narrative of Field Mission Results:
The Family Living Analysis on Mars Expedition Crew spent the afternoon
continuing our EVA training to prepare for when we go on extended field
missions starting tomorrow.

EVA Data/Interpretations:
This EVA went very well. Everyone carried out their training
professionally and with precision.

Hab Maintenance:
Our Chief Engineer and Chief HSO/F.L.A.M.E. Educator have worked all
day to ensure that we have plenty of water for our daily consumption
and have worked on the PEVs to ensure that our Crew has safe
transportation for when we train and when we go on EVA. The CDR
acquired photos for the MDRS Egnineering Task Force and Mission Support
for our "Entrance" pictures. She also cleaned up the MDRS GreenHab and
added potting soil to the plants currently growing. The CDR also
helped by placing the pump into the grey water to allow for water to
flow more easily into the Aquatic Tanks (ATs) in the GreenHab.

Report Transmission Schedule:

Commander (Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto)
Executive Officer in Training (Angelina Zabala)

Plans for Tomorrow:
Now that the F.L.A.M.E. Crew is in full simulation, we will have an EVA
tomorrow and take the F.L.A.M.E. students to Box Canyon and stop along
the way at various waypoints to collect samples to bring back to the
MDRS Science Laboratory and then to clean and identify the samples.
The CDR will give a presentation, both in the field and at the MDRS
Laboratory, on how to identify rocks and minerals as well as on the
basics of field geology. Our Chief Engineer will also discuss
wilderness training for both Earth and on Mars.

Inventory:
Sufficient food is on-station for our rotation.
Portable H2O tank level full. A few times the children have been
reminded about "moderation" and that they should watch what they eat.
***Note, this is a concept that two teenagers and a ten year old have
difficulty grasping due to the plentiful supply they normally have back
on Earth. Not to mention that all three children are currently
experiencing their growing spurts.

Support Requested:
The GreenHab is in need of two bags of potting soil. The MDRS is in
need of flourescent light bulbs for lamps and crew quarters. The MDRS
printer is in need of ink.

Miscellaneous:
The F.L.A.M.E. Commander will be sending "Entrance" pictures tonight.
Some comments will be needed from the MDRS Engineering Task Force
related to the functionality of the GreenHab instrumentation.
