Commander's Report
March 3, 2008
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto

To the sounds of Metallica our HSO Assistant and Security Officer make
our dinner (beenie weenies in pork and beans). As I sit and write this
I cannot help to think that the younger generation of the F.L.A.M.E.
Crew have adapted quite well to Mars life. It is "old hat" to them.
Which has surprised me for I thought they would get this feeling much
sooner at an earlier mission.

Everyone has put in their share of work today. The F.L.A.M.E. students
has their school session early in the morning and then did their
chores. The Chief Engineer was busy with the water tank and
familiarized himself with the GreenHab. Our Chief HSO went through the
HSO Emergency Crew Training with the F.L.A.M.E. Crew members and
assisted the Chief Engineer with the PEV upkeep. He also assisted the
Commander by training the F.L.A.M.E. students with their PEV training
to prepare them for when we go on our extended EVA tomorrow. As
Commander, I ensured that everyone stayed on task. I escaped for a
while in the GreenHab to check on the status of the vegetation as well
as checking the Aquatic Tanks (AT) by acquiring metrics related to
their pH and temperature.

Later on in the afternoon we continued our training. By 1800 hrs we
were back in the Hab and in full simulation. We had a hearty dinner
and readily got back to our daily report writing to send off to Mission
Support. We will watch a movie tonight and then hit the rack a little
after 2200 hrs. Last night everyone was very busy and possibly too
tired to sleep. A couple of the Crew members went to bed as scheduled
but the reamining Crew stayed up to finish tasks and chat about the
day's activities. Tonight we will be going to bed a little later as
per our matian sleep/wake cycle so we may actually have time to relax
before we go to bed.
