Log Book for March 10, 2008
Commander's Report
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto Reporting

Today was a relaxing day. It was the Executive Officer's and my day to
cook.
We tried to get as much of our own work done today before EVA09
took place. I was able to get my sample containers lined up for our
EVA but that will have to take place tomorrow. Our Executive Officer
led an EVA to Hab Ridge again with our Executive Officer in Training,
Chief Engineer, Chief HSO and Security Officer. They collected some
more samples for Stacy's Research.

Myself and one crewmember stayed "home" today due to her
ankle still being sore from yesterday's fall next to the GreenHab. We
will make it up to her tomorrow, if she is up to it, to go to Candor
Chasma and around that vicinity in order to get soil samples for our
MDRS Remote Sensing Team. We will also hunt for new concretion-bearing
sites.

The biggest accomplishment this Crew can boast is the cross-training
that has been conducted during our stay at the Mars Desert Research
Station.
It is exciting to see the fusion of science and technology
taking place. The F.L.A.M.E. children have advanced so much this past
week and I can honestly say that they have come along way. Math,
science, technology all being learn each and everyday. What a
wonderful experience for these children.

We look forward to a very productive day tomorrow. We will start
decorating the Hab for our Saint Patrick's Day celebration. Until
then, I will treat my Crew to a meatball dinner, study my mineralogy
for when I go back to Earth I will have a midterm to take, study my
Calculus, spend some time with the children and watch "Short Circut"
before we go to bed. Tonight we will actually go to bed at 0333 hrs
(Earth Time). It has been an intersting week for we have been trying
to adhere to a Mars Wake/Sleep Cycle. We have no problem getting up at
a specific time but it is staying up long enough that is hurting us and
making us more tired. At least we have no problems sleeping when we
lay our head down on the pillow.
