Science Report
Stacy T. Sklar & Angie Zabala Reporting

Project:
Fossil Mapping

Personnel:
Stacy Sklar
Angie Zabala

Operations Data Collected:

Data from two sites on Hab Ridge site #1 (4251000 518000) and site
#6 (4251500 517750) were collected. The FDM was used to document these
sites.

Observations made at these sites:

Site 1 (1408m):

0% corrosion, 90% fragmental, 10% disarticulate, <1% bio-erosion (drill
holes), 75% concave up and 25% concave down orientation

Site 6 (1410m):

0% corrosion, 100% fragmental, 0% disarticulate, 0% bio-erosion (drill
holes), 60% concave up and 40% concave down orientation

Several large Gryphaea samples (4.6 cm) were collected en route to
pre-determined sites.

Angie made a hypothesis about comparing bio-eroded fossils at surface
and sub-surface. This test was located at ( 4251253N 12 517742E ).
What I did was dig 40.64cm down into the sub-surface of HAB Ridge. I
discovered that the fossils on the suface and the fossils at
sub-surface were diffrent. The fossils on the surface were bio-eroded
and fractured a great deal. The fossils in sub-suface were in good
condition, they were not as fractured as the fossils on the surface.
The Sub-surface fossils were not bio-eroded.

Technical/Equipment Issues:

Voice recorder not working. Back up batteries not among equipment.

Discussion:

None
