Log Book for March 15, 2008
Commander's Report
Veronica Ann Zabala-Aliberto Reporting

Charles Darwin - "A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not
discovered the value of life."

The Family Living Analysis on Mars Expedition Crew has spent every hour
they could to investigate and improve our way of life at the Mars
Desert Research Station. Everyone did what they could do and even
pushed their own limits to ensure that the Hab was running smoothly and
efficiently. Sure, there were times of chaos. A Crew Member's mettle
tested. But it must be noted that to be challenged in one's desires is
assured to happen, but to succumb to that challenge is up to that
individual.

I am reminded of the quote by John Wooden who said, "Do not let what
you cannot do interfere with what you can do." The F.L.A.M.E. Crew,
especially the children, have performed beyond my expectations. Their
family and colleagues should be very proud of their latest
accomplishments. The childrens' educators back on “Earth” have sent us
e-mails stating how proud they are of them and how they look forward to
having them back in class to share their adventures.

Math, science, and technology...all hands-on disciplines. EVAs,
science experiments in the MDRS Science Laboratory and "ATV Fun
Time"...all activities that make learning fun. The F.L.A.M.E students
have taken learning to a new level and will apply everything they have
learned to real-world applications. They will also educate and inspire
their educators and peers when they go back to "Earth" and will give
lectures and presentations in education outreach related to human space
exploration and settlement. Our first presentations, when we get back
to "Earth", will be at the Yuri's Space Exploration Day held at the
Peoria Challenger Center in Arizona on April 12, 2008 from 10-4pm. I
will be in charge of this event that day and our Executive Officer and
Executive Officer in Training will be giving talks about the future of
space exploration. We will also have an education outreach table for
the Mars Society at the event. The rest of the Primary Crew of
F.L.A.M.E. will help out throughout the day. If you are in the area,
stop by and say hello! We will also be honored by world renowned space
artist, Bob McCall, as he plants a Moon Tree to commemorate Yuri
Gagarin’s first flight into space. For more information on this event,
please visit the following URL: http://www.azchallenger.org/

On behalf, of the entire F.L.A.M.E. Crew, we thank you for all of your
support during our last rotation at the Mars Desert Research Station.

The airlock light has been left on for Crew 69 as we await their
arrival.

The F.L.A.M.E. Crew is now signing off.
