Commander's Report 24 March 2008 Emily Colvin
Long day. I'd forgotten how much an EVA will take out of you, especially at the temperatures of this time of year (although I didn't get burned...at least, not more than my face...). Our next three days will be adjusted accordingly, so no one's getting too knocked out. We've got a lot to fit in, but I have faith.
I definitely hate the feeling of looking at a piece of equipment cross-eyed, waiting for inspiration to strike. It's happened a few times today. Looking at the soil corer and trying to reconcile what I was seeing with the image I had in my head. Still don't quite have them matched up, but I'm making improvements. And I did have success with the other - we had a float switch for 120VAC and a pump that runs on 12VDC. After staring at them long enough, I convinced myself that the switch can be used anyway with the pump, since it's a very low current pump. And external sources confirmed this. So, in fact, you can stare at a problem long enough that it will fix itself.
