Project: EVA: Incline Study Preparation

Personnel:
Tulika Raj

Incline studies were performed for three more subjects around the Hab’s vicinity. The test was performed for 5 different slopes, namely, inclines at 17º, 22º, 30º, 35º and 45º. The soil type ranged from crumbly dry clay to hard clay and rocky.

Further, the GreenHab plants were watered, and the some more water hyacinths were moved from AT#2 to AT#1, as AT#2 was getting over crowded. The pH of the aquatic tanks were measured:

AT#1 pH : 7.85
AT#2 pH : 7.68
AT#3 pH : 7.80
AT#4 pH : 7.85

Discussion / Questions:

The data from the incline study is similar to the data obtained from the earlier study. An increase in angle showed an increase in difficulty to stand and bend on incline.

The water hyacinths that had been transplanted from AT#1 to AT#2 last week seem to survive and populate fast in AT#1.

Question: Since, the GreenHab aquatic tanks seem to show a stable pH during the last couple of readings, do we still need to add swimming pool acid in the next crew's grocery list?
