Commander's Report

April 9, 2008

Boris Yim

Last night, we watched nothing. Everybody declared sleepy and
disappeared. "Apollo 13" postponed to tonight.

As usual, the first thing we did when we got up was checking emails. We
did lab work and fabricated an airplane wing using cardboard, plastic
tube, tapes and hot glue gun. Another helmet was repaired. We have
basically collected enough samples for analysis, but there are some new
exciting sites we have not been to. We tried to find the Gypsum Field
by ATV in an afternoon EVA, since more halophiles can be found under
gypsum. The EVA also tested GPS navigation and rediscovered a road on the
map. See EVA report for interesting details. Other crew members went up
the hill to the west of the Hab and admired fossil shells all over the
ground.
As we know, the cell tower in Hanksville was raised, so it
should be even easier to make calls on the top of the hill, as one crew
member did just now.

We are all enjoying the hab for our last few days. Eager to watch the
movie soon.
