EVA #4 Report

April 15, 2008

Akos Kereszturi

Time:
DEPART 11:00
RETURN 12:50

Crew Members:
H. Hargitai, T. Hirsch

Site Location:
Area 42 / Eszter's Hill

Transit Mode:
foot

Objectives:
To revisit sites where photos had been taken in 2006 by crew 42, and to take
photos of the same places in order to see changes.

Lessons Learned:
- We used a mobile phone with built-in GPS: the buttons were too small to
push by gloves and its interface too complicated
- We could not see camera displays
- The wind sometimes tried to move us, but we could hold each other to
stabilize ourselves
- Even using maps and printouts of photos we could not find the same
places. To make such long term experiments exact GPS data should be
archived of each photo taken. We did not have those data from 2006.
- The general appearance of the landscape looks more Martian in a dust
storm, but the dust storm here makes a normal day's appearance of Mars.
