EVA #23 Report

April 24, 2008

Henrik Hargitai

Time:
1930-2105

Crew Members:
Hargitai H., Boros-Oláh M.

Site Location:
Phobos Peak.

Transit Mode:
On foot.

Objectives:

To go for a sunset EVA using headlights.

Lessons Learned:

- Using a headlight fixed by scotch tape to the helmet it is possible to realize on-foot EVAs. But after sunset, when the temperature drops suddenly, the helmets get covered with condensation. The mist makes it impossible to see, so:

a) soap cover is needed on helmet before departing for a sunset EVA even in springtime, and

b) the headlights may be directed not strait but a little to the left or right, where there is no mist and less scratches.
